Hurricane Irma Update #4
Randy and I are on property and would like to offer the following report.
There continues to be no electricity on the island. We understand the Sheriff's Department is limiting access to the island. The Jensen Beach Causeway and the Fort Pierce causeway are closed as officials are examining the integrity of the structures. The Sewalls causeway is open on the south end of the island.
Bldg 2 experienced damage to the lobby entrance roof and the outside light fixtures. Our dunes held and our pool is fine. Our beach suffered much erosion and is basically gone. Our beach crossover is damaged. The cabana roof looks good. Most importantly, our new shutters all held!
Winds were tracked at the FPL nuclear plant at 99 mph. We have some damaged cars on the upper parking lot of building 2 with blown out windows. We believed that we experienced a tornado that caused this damage.
Reports are that I95 is shut from Vero to Port St. Lucie due to debris on the road. St. Lucie County just sent out an emergency communication warning to residents to stay indoors and off the roads, as there are a number of live wires and many flooded roads.
Due to the power outage, dangerous road conditions and limited bridges to the island, you may want to reconsider returning to the Regency at this time. Of course, that decision is your choice. Whichever you choose, please be safe on the roads.
Please continue to monitor the hurricane hotline (866-973-4362) as well as this website for further updates.
